I believe the Anna Shapiro you refer to may be the same one I am seeking info about. Anna Shapiro gave birth to my grandfather whom she named Hyman Shapiro in Brooklyn, New York in 1910. He was place in the foundling home and later adopted by a couple from Connecticut and renamed. My grandparents tried many years later to find info about his birth family, however, this was before internet technology, in the late 1960's and what they learned was limited. Anna Shapiro was the daughter of a small grocery type of store owner in Brooklyn, her own mother appears to have been deceased at the time of her sons birth, she was not pleased about placing the baby up for adoption. These are the few details we have. My grandparents are both deceased and my mother, whom has had many health issues, would love to discover some information about this matter which has been a mystery for so many years in my family, Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kara Sullivan
