Sorry. I didn't even know there had been Shapton's that far back in the U.S. The "Other Shaptons" I made reference to came to Canada around 1850's and then spread into Michigan and further. I have been in contact with several of them. Shapton is not a common name, as you are probably well aware, and most Shaptons originate in Devon. Unfortunately a lot of Devon records were lost when the Cathedral in Exeter was bombed during WWII. Contact me if you want any information re "Other Shaptons" or my Shaptons who are relative newcomers to England, my grandfather came here around 1910.
