SHAWE (SHAW) AND SHAWE-TAYLOR
Posted by: CHARLOTTE PLUMMER TAYLOR Date: July 08, 2000 at 12:03:59
  of 3

My family is the Taylor family of County
Galway in Ireland. One of the Taylor family
a daughter of John Taylor, married a member
of the SHAWE (SHAW) family and that man
changed his name to SHAWE-TAYLOR as a
surname. We are curious why there was a
name change by a man. Would this be because
the couple would be taking residence in
"Taylor Castle" at Ardrahan which had been
the TAYLOR's residences for many years? Some
records say that John TAYLOR had only two (2)
daughters and no sons? Any answers would be
appreciated.
