Sheffield, Irma Orelia Irma Orelia Sheffield SHREVEPORT, LA - Irma was born 12-31-1908 in Jamestown, Louisiana to William Joseph Sheffield and Virginia Key Sheffield. She passed away May 16, 2009 after a bout with ill health. She attended public schools in Jamestown, Louisiana. Irma was one of twelve siblings. Preceding Irma in death are siblings, Joshua Sheffield, Maggie Sheffield Graham, Maude Sheffield Nix, Annie Laura Sheffield Farmer, Eva Sheffield Todd, Paul Sheffield, Kermit Sheffield, Jennie Mae Sheffield, Tina Sheffield Edwards, Floy Sheffield Walker and Doris Sheffield Hendrick. Also, preceding her in death are nephews, Brooks Sheffield, Enoch Nix, James Graham and niece, Laura Dean Nix Bell. Irma was a Medical Technologist registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologist, and was trained in her profession by William F. Farmer, Sr., husband of Annie Laura Sheffield Farmer. Irma ended her career as the supervisor of the P&S Hospital medical laboratories having served in that capacity for 25 years. Primary caregivers since 2001 were William F. Farmer, Jr. (sister's son) with assistance from his wife, Martha P. Farmer. Surviving her is her nephew, William F. Farmer, Jr. of Shreveport; and nieces, Jo Ann Farmer Sanders of Houston, Texas, Dianne Hendrick Whitley of Plano, Texas, Johnnie Graham Caver of Ruston, Louisiana and Mary Elizabeth Todd Sledge of Bossier City, Louisiana. Irma was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. She cherished memories of her time spent in retirement at The Waterford of Shreveport where she lived since October of 2001. Sincere thanks to the staff at Guest Care at Spring Lake in Shreveport for their care during the last months of her declining health. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Shreveport or the Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street in Shreveport. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Interment will follow funeral services at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana.
