Arthur John Wesley Sheffield of Hardin Co, Texas

I am trying to research my Sheffield ancestors. My mom always told us the story of 4 Sheffield brothers that emigrated from England. My ancestor, William Sheffield married a Mary Abbott.

She also told a story about Arthur John Wesley Sheffield that fled Georgia and came to Texas, after killing 3 slaves. As the story goes, his cousin (Phillips???) took over his property after he fled.

Does anyone have any information about these Sheffields?
