Jon - Thanks for your info regarding Daniel Shehane. The 1850 Census shows Daniel's wife as Mary from Holland, but the 1860 Census indicates that she was from Scotland. How did you get her maiden name? Are you related to this branch of the Shehane's? My mother-in-law was a Shehane and she was born in Dothan, Ala. I suspect that Daniel's father was William Shehane from Lancaster CC South Carolina.
There is a William Shehane in the 1820 Census with a young son. This William also had two brothers - Fredrick and Morris. They would be found on pgs 190-191 in the 1820 Census for Lancaster Co. This is merely speculation at this point,but if I find a direct link I'll let you know and I'd appreciate it if you'd share what you learn about what appears to be our common ancestor. Marsha
