Renee,,I am doing a Shehane lineage search for my grand
mother, Sarah M. Shehane who married George W. Cauthen in Lancaster, S.C. In doing so I have came across a Daniel Frederick Shehane born 1820 in Lancaster Co., S.C. and your Daniel Frederick Shehane born 1880 in Barbour Co. Ala. in 1880. Married Nancy Jane Shriver born in Barbour Co., Ala in 1886. Shows one child; Willie B. Shehane born 1923 in Barbour, Ala. Willie's spouse was Elender Sue Whiddon.
Too, found in the 1880 census A William Shehane born 1850 who had a child Daniel age 2. A possibility?
Have a feeling the Daniel Frederick Shehane born in Lancaster, 1820 is your Daniels grand farther because he moved to Barbour, Ala. and died there.

Suggestion; Try Rootsweb World Connect. Too, if you have a library card and the library in your county has a genealogy department, using the bar code on your card you can pull up Heratage Quest and check the census. Can use the computers in that library and pull up Ancestry Library Edition which has many records and much information.

If you are ever in Seattle, Washington,go to the Seattle Library Genealogy Department. They have tons of data and the peole are so nice and helpful.
