I have run across that name often in my research but none were directly related that I could find. My Sheltons lived in Fayette Co. Alabama but moved to Arkansas after the death of George A. Shelton, the husband of Jane Johnston-Shelton, in 1857, the family moved to Arkansas. They farmed there for awhile. When the Civil War began, George R. Shelton went back to Alabama, stopping by some of his mother's relatives in Mississippi, (Johnstons), then went on to Fayette Co. where he joined the Confederacy. He was killed a few months later. I am glad that you have some nice pictures of JKP and his wife.

Ed
