Mary just interested to know where your Shenton ancesters originated from? Did they like so many other people in the past 200/300 years leave England for a better life in what is the USA?. As you are probably aware the surname Shenton is found in Staffordshire & in Leicestershire two midland counties of England. By the way there is even a village called Shenton in Leicestershire & who knows the original family may have taken the name as a surname way back in the distant past. My connection with the Shenton family is through the Kelways as my late grandma was a Bessie Gertrude Gregory nee Kelway. Way back on the 29th October 1780 a Mary Clist Shenton married a Henry Kelway & thats where my middle name originates from. The Kelways & the Shenton families originated from Falmouth an important sea port situated in the far west of England in the county of Cornwall which is a long way from the two midland counties. Good luck with your research
cheers for now
