Michael J. Sheridan, of Woodlands, Texas, passed away June 20 after a long fight against brain cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Patricia Sheridan, two daughters, Michelle Sheridan and Tiffany Stevens, and his wifes children, Chris Ferris and David Ferris, six grandchildren and a brother, John Sheridan. Michael was born in 1948 in Providence to Phillip and Mary Sheridan and was the youngest of five children. Michael was a retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel whose last assignment was as executive officer of the 420th Military Intelligence Detachment. He earned a Masters in Education from Providence College and an MBA from Bryant College. Michael was a phenomenal mathematics teacher for 35 years and inspired hundreds of students in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Texas. Known as the Mathman, he had a special gift for teaching and was awarded Teacher of the Year three times by local schools. He was an accomplished pianist, dedicated gardener, patient listener and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Most of all, Mike was someone who saw the good in every person and the joy in every day; he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held June 28 at 3 p.m. at Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Mathman Scholarship Fund at Conroe High School.
