My great-grandmother was Mary Sheridan O'Neill, who was born in Montreal in 1847. She died in Brooklyn, New York in 1926. She was the daughter of James Sheridan, a very wealthy and prominent builder in Quebec. His company built all the lighthouses along the St. Lawrence River and to this day you can see the little plaques on the lighthouses that say "Constructed by James Sheridan & Co."
Does anyone know anything about this branch of the Sheridan family in Montreal? I would imagine that because of their prominent position in the community in Montreal that someone must know something about them. Are there still any Sheridans in Montreal who are descendants of James Sheridan? I'd love to find out.
