Sherwood and Wade of Oldcastle
I am hoping that SKS can assist me with the Sherwood/Sharwood and Wade families of Oldcastle in County Meath, Ireland.
Elizabeth Rosa Wade sailed per the Derry Castle from Liverpool, England on 8th February 1853 to Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, Australia and arrived on 20th May 1853.She was an assisted passenger and had accepted a position with a Mrs. Smith in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda for a period of three months. Her religion is given as Church of England.
Elizabeth Wade married Richard Sims Kingham a native of Whitechurch in Hampshire, England on 1st February 1855 at the Wesleyan Church at St Kilda, Melbourne.
On the marriage certificate Elizabeth Rosa Wade (born circa 1833) gives her parents names as Robin Wade and Isabella Sherwood of Oldcastle, County Meath. Also, an announcement appears in the Melbourne paper "The Angus" annoucing the marriage of Elizabeth to Richard and in the announcement it states that Richard was from Whitnal Farm in Hants and Elizabeth was from Oldcastle in County Meath.
"...MARRIED. The Argus (Melbourne, Vic) Friday 2 February 1855
On the 1st inst., at the Wesleyan Chapel, St. Kilda, by the Rev. Mr. Waugh, Mr. Richard Sims Kingham, of Whitnal Farm, Hants, to Miss Elizabeth Wade, of Old-castle, county Meath..."
I am hoping I can find out more about Elizabeth's parents, Robin Wade and Isabella Sherwood.
