It seems as though our common ancestor is indeed this Elias.I have that he is born in Zanesville, Ohio December 8, 1898.Died July 29, 1864 and is buried in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Crown Hill Cemetary. He was married to Mahala Dunn who was born June 08, 1802 somewherepossibly New Jersey. She died Dec. 13, 1886 and is also buried in Crown
Hill Cemetery.I have been there and seen the stones.
Elias and Mahala had Asa N. (J.N.) Shimer.
I have Asa Northrup Shimer b August 2, 1823, with no place of birth. Hisdeath date is listed as August 4, 1907 and is also buried in Crown Hill cemetary. He married Margaret Smart adn I have loads of info on her line.
These two had child Elias Nelson Shimer, b. June 21, 1854, d.March 1945 Indiana Masonic HOme. He had three wives, Dircie McVey, Nolia Head, and Ella Bugh.
Dircie is the mother to my Great
Grandfather.... Asa Nelson Shimer b.October 15, 1882 in White, Brookings Co., South Dakota. He died Nov. 2.,1968 at my grandmother's home in Spring Arbor, Jackson Co., Michigan. He was married to Margaret Virginia Steele, called Virgie.
I am so pleased to hear from you.I hope you will respond quickly and tell me your line.I would love to share further.I especially aminterested in connecting this line with a large clan of Shimers from Pennsylvania.I also want any history and documentation!
OK.I am excited. The Shimer line has had me on hold for a long time. Oh, this is my mother and grandmother's line.
Hope to hear from you soon. My email address is [email protected]
