my name is Joachim Siedel, I am living in Germany, and are just about trying to elucidate the European ancestry of Robert Spore from IN, U.S.A. He believes that his European ancestor, Henry Spor, was the person arriving with the ship "Boston" on 10 Nov 1764 in Philadelphia. As the "Boston's" passenger list does also include a "Lewis Shimfassel" (or, more correctly, "Lewis Shimfassel's Mark" as his name had been written down by a clerk of the Philadelphia harbour authority) I believe his original German or German-French name was Louis (or Ludwig) Schimfessel. Perhaps you should have a look at, e.g., a French-German genealogy web site. You will find quite many of Schimfessel names there, including various pedigrees based on this family name (mainly in the nowadays French regions of Alsace and Lorraine at the border to Germany, but also in Luxemburg, and Belgium, respectively).
