Hi Nancy!!
First of all my email address is [email protected]
Secondly,Lydia's parents were Jonathan Ruble who married Sarah House. They had Lydia, William, Samuel, Alexander, Charles, Henry, Sarah, and Eliza.
Lydia married Richard W. Shipley on June 2, 1853 in Clay County, Illinois. They had Cyrus, Edward, Minnie, Richard, and Marcus. Cyrus is buried in the Fontana Cemetery, Fontana, Kansas next to his grandparents. He was just about 3 years old when he died. I have pictures of the headstones.
Lydia was born Lydia Elliot Ruble on August 3, 1835. All I have on Ricgard was that he was born 1827 in Kentucky. Also
in regards to Richard; Enlisted with the 10th Kansas Volunteer Infantry which was formed in Paola, Kansas on April 3, 1862 as an Assistant Surgeon.
Lived in Kansas City, Missouri and worked as a Physician.
Assistant Surgeon (Rank)/ Shipley, Richard W. /Osage (residence)No evidence of muster out on file.
Asst. Surgeon (Rank)/ Shipley, Richard W./ Oct. 1, '62 (Enlisted)/Mus. out June 26, '65, Little Rock, Ark.
When Lykins (Miami) county was created, provision was made for the election of county commissioners and Paola was named as the county seat. The body which corresponds to the board of county commissioners of today consisted of the probate judge and two commissioners. In 1860 the county commissioner form of government was established, and the first meeting of the new board was held on April 2, 1860. It consisted of Israel Christie, John M. Ellis and R. W. Shipley.
