Thank you for checking this info for me, Marilyn. The only item which I can disprove is the birth date of Maria Hawkins, married to Nathan Shipley,Sr. I have inherited Maria's baby cup. Inside the cup was a note written by Maria's grandaughter which said that Maria died on May 23,1884 at age 81 years, one month. Therefore, she was born in April of 1803, not 1811, which is the date listed in my 1968 book as well.
The list of names of Benjamin and Amelia's children is the same in my 1968 and your 2002 Shipleys of MD book except for Elizabeth, which was included in the 1968 book. The 1937 book added 4 names: Henry, Amelia, Margaret and Lucy.
I think I have partially figured out what is causing some of the confusion. In the 1968 book, there is mention of the children of Benjamin Shipley,Jr.(born 1775), son of Benjamin,Sr.(born 1751), and Rachel Frost. Benjamin,Jr. married Amelia Webster. Their wills were probated in July of 1829 and August of 1859. Their children have names very similar to those listed for Benjamin and Amelia Hobbs. What is interesting is that the names of the spouses of their children are the same as those you had listed in your last message. Your info regarding Joshua is correct according to the 1968 book. Thanks again for your help.
