Nathan Shippey/Sarah Teeple moved to Iowa. In 1860 they are in Butler County, Iowa and in 1870 they are in Cherokee County, Iowa. Unable to locate them on 1880 census but it appears that Nathan and Sarah may have died before 1880, the family may have been in transit or just plain missed by the census taker.

It turns out the first child that I mentioned previously, Margaret, was actually a male named Marquette, aka Martin.

According to an Affidavit of Heirship by Ethel Shippey, wife of Philander Nathan Shippey, found in the estate records of Philander, Nathan and Sarah had 11 children. Eight of these children are found on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses. Marge is named in the above mentioned affidavit. The other two apparently died as infants between census years.

Marquette "Martin" died 8 Nov. 1931 in Madison, Wisconsin
Matilda J. died before 1870 in Iowa
John T. died 17 January 1929 in Denver, Colorado
Francis Marion (male) died 1910 in Illinois
Philander Nathan died 19 Sept. 1936 in Ottawa, Illinois
Sarah M. died 1893 in Illinois
Infant female born circa 1859 died before 1870 in Iowa
Miles W. died 1893 in Ottawa, Illinois
Mabel Rose died 22 Feb. 1915 in California
Marge (mentioned in affidavit - nothing else known)
Infant order of birth not known

Marquette, John, Francis, Philander, Sarah, Miles and Mabel settled in LaSalle county, Illinois circa 1890.

If you are related to this family, I would love to hear from you.
