I have the 1850 census record for Zebedee and Mary Shippee. They did indeed have a daughter named Ruth, who was 21 years old in 1850, so she could be the Ruth you seek.

I also have the vital records for Plainfield which list a Fidelia Shippee marrying a Henry Kemp, Jr. of Brooklyn on the date you give --- and a Ruth Fidelia marrying a Henry Camp, Jr of Brooklyn, also on that date. The marriage(s) were performed by Rev. Henry Robinson.
