I made a mistake in reading Henry Shipton's will: the "good friend and kinsman" is Henry WALTER (not Walton). The property in Yorkshire was at Thorphesley (Thorpe Hesley), Swinton and Wickersley, all now in the borough of Rotherham. An internet search reveals that Henry Walter was agent to the Earls of Clare: Nottingham University catalogues papers relating to the execution of his will by Henry Shipton in 1690. I cannot find how Henry Shipton and Henry Walter were related.
