Four SHIPTON groups

It seems from records I have found, there are 4 early (may be more) groups of SHIPTON. (1) North Carolina:Robert SHIPTON, SR first found in Granville Co., NC in 1762 whose descendants go to Madison & Estill Co., KY, Benton Co., MO and Tazewell Co., IL (2) Pennsylvania: William SHIPTON & wife Mary born in the late 1700's and whose descendants are found in Harrison Co., OH (3) Maryland: John SHIPTON & Mary SPEER whose descendants are found in Greenup Co., KY and later in Lawrence Co., OH 4. Connecticut SHIPTON (who may be SHIPMAN) found in the early to mid 1600's. I can find no connection among these groups. Anyone out there more enlightened?
