Charles Chartier. My gret,Great, Great Grandfather was William. As I know Chartier name was taken as Chortier or Shirkey. Some went each way. William They mis-spelled to Shurkey then his son was William Shirkey. His son Charles was mis-spelled to Shurkey. My dad, Edward Shurkey then I was Kenneth Shurkey. If you have a Email address I can email you what I have. I believe They were all settlers from Point aux Tremble Settlement 1812Francois Chartier had 120 acres on St. Clair river on June 21, 1808. N0.309. It is said they came from three Rivers Canada. My Grandmother was a Basney and Married a Shurkey, Charles. They divorced.
My Dad never kept in contact with Shurkey relatives. On his mothers side and they are mostly deceased now. Reason being I'm looking. My email is: Shurkeys1124@Chartermi.net
