Hello Mike ... yes, I am related to Edward Shirkey and Margaret Barr of Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland. My mother's father was a Shirkie (Shirkey). Margaret and Edward were my GGG Grandparents. I have census records from 1851 and 1861 that show the children living at home at that time, but a daughter Margaret is not listed (there is an Elizabeth, Christina, Catherine and Mary). This doesn't mean she wasn't a daughter ... possibly she came along after the census, or Margaret was her middle name? Also, there were several sons of Edward and Margaret back then who may also have had a daughter Margaret. This is not an uncommon name in the Shirkey line. I will look a little further and see if something pops up.

I have a friend in Glasgow who did the research of the records in Scotland. He isn't a genealogist, but seems to be very good at digging up records. If you are interested, I could ask him if he would give assistance.

Hope this helps ... don't hesitate to contact me ... Mike Howard (USA)
