Mike ... I will ask my friend in Scotland if he can locate any information about Margaret and the Sinclair connection. Since you think she was born in 1833, it is possible that she wouldn't be on the 1851 census, ie married before that date. Since you somehow connected her to Edward Shirkey and Margaret Barr, it is possible that Margaret was their daughter. It may be that her marriage certificate can be located. Then, ship records may help trace her steps after that.
