According to the 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses, Frank Shirkey was born in Missouri and his parents were born in Ohio. The 1900 census has Frank and Mary F. Shirkey with these children: Mattie, born Nov 1882; Clary, born May 1885; Silva, born Sep 1887; and Richard, born March 1889. All of the children were born in Ohio and in 1900 the family was living in Salt Lick Township (Perry), Ohio. The reason I took at this family is because there was a large Chartier family in St-Clair County, Michigan who became known as Shirkey. Some of them moved to Ohio, but I don't believe this Frank Shirkey comes from that family. If you don't have access to these census records, contact me at vlchartier@ieee.org; and I will send them to you.
