Robert, Nice to see you are still interested in the Shirkey genealogy. I'm still trying to connect John Shirkey and Nancy Nelson to parentage. (James Shirkey and Margaret Beals/Bailes. I received e-mail from Steve Polling stating he was through with his searching. We did find that John Richard Shirkey was my GGgrfather's brother, son of John and Nancy Shirkye, nephew of James you found in Clark Co.Mo. I went to Columbus, OH and searched the old newspapers and found some info. Steve later found that John Richard S. was indeed Nancy Shirkey Mace's brother. Mace came to America with Patrick Sharkey on ship, lived on James River until grant for land. I have info from Shirleys (no relation) about their (Shirkeys) early life in VA. I collect anything on the Shirkeys/Sharkeys. I believe they were related to the Betts family in OH. Also the Dinwiddies and Betts were related. Also, I show a Dinwiddie married to a Shirkey in early 1800s. Coincidence? Dot
