Have you checked the Sharkey GenForum Board? Vernon Chartier has collected lots of information and I know he has posted some of it on that board. I have not checked the Chartier Board.

This is what limited info I have on the two lines:

Richard Shirkey line
Information from Clarence A. Shirkey, 2673 Catalpa Drive, Berkley, MI 48072
From letter dated 1977

Richard Shirkey b. in St. Clair Co., MI; d. 1906 St. Clair, MI
(Note: Richard's father spelled his last name: Chortie)
m. Shonie (sp?) Sterling b. St. Clair Co., MI; d. 1910 St. Clair, MI
her father Marlounce (sp?)

Their son:
Elmer C. Shirkey b. 6 Dec 1901 St. Clair, MI
m. 21 Sep 1926 Pauline Ducharme b. 21 May 1897, Drysdale Ont., Canada
Her parents: Joe Ducharme and Mary Jeffery

Their son:
Clarence A. Shirkey b. (private) Detroit
m. Redford, MI to Jean M. Bloye b. (private)

Their children:
Denise L. and Diana L.

Dosie Shirkey line
Information from Frank F. Shirkey, 4726 Atkins Rd, Pt. Huron, MI 48060
From letter dated 1977

Dosie Shirkey, b. 20 Apr 1888 St. Clair, MI d. May 1950 St. Clair, MI
(Note Dosie started school with last name as Chartier)
m. Isabelle Yeir, b. St. Clair, MI d. Mar 1938 St. Clair, MI

Their son:
Frank F. Shirkey, b. (private) Wyandotte, MI
m. Ardath R. Barringer Mt. Clemens, MI
she was b. (private) St. Clair, MI

Their children:
Cathleen, Janet, Judy, Frank (?)

I did not include birth dates of those living but would pass them on via email if you need them.

I will check my other "Thumb area" MI Shirkey data to see if any other info might connect. Chartier seems to be the common "original" name for this family.
