the town of Shock, W.Va. was named for Alexander Shock, who was the son of Jacob Shock, who was the son of Henry Shock. Henry and Jacob moved to Twistville in Braxton Co. in 1807, and later moved to the area around "Shock" and established a mill there. To find out more about "Shock", write Ron Miller, P.O.Box 31, Normantown, W.Va. 25267. For cemetery information in Gilmer Co., write Beulah Robinson, P.O.Box 106, Tanner, W.Va. 26179. Gilmer Co. Historical Society, 214 Walnut St., Glenville, W.Va. 26351 has published a "History Book of Gilmer County @ $43.00 per copy. It has some Cottrills in it. My E-mail address is Happy hunting. Geneva
