Looking for information/confirmation on the following Shockey family. Note that the link from the 2nd generation to the 3rd generation is still unproven:
1. James B. SHOCKEY was born on 2 May 1791 in Berkeley County, VA (later WV).
He married first, Nancy ROSS.
He married second, Sally _____?. Sally was born in 1795 in Frederick Co., MD.1 James B. SHOCKEY and Sally ? had the following known child:
+2 i. Martin P. SHOCKEY Sr. (born in 1826).
2. Martin P. SHOCKEY Sr. was born in 1826 in Fleming County, KY. It must still be proven that he is a father of Martin P. Shockey, Jr. Per Les Shockey, this man is found in the book "Shockey History and Genealogy" but the book has no spouse or children shown.
He was married. Martin P. SHOCKEY Sr., perhaps had the following child:
+3 i. Martin P. SHOCKEY Jr. (born in May 1853).
3. Martin P. SHOCKEY Jr. was born in May 1853 in KY. In the 1900 Cowley County, KS census, Martin was living in the Omnia Township, ED 52, Sheet 12, HH #227? and was listed as Shockey, Martin, Mar? 1853, 47, married 23 years, KY VA KY; Harriet, Feb 1857, 43, 7 children, 6 living, IN KY IN,
He was married to Harriet DANIELS (daughter of Peter DANIEL II and Christina or Christiana ATKINSON) BET 1880/1881. Harriet DANIELS4,5 was born on 14 Feb 1857 in Howard County? IN.6,7 The 1880 Montague County, Texas census first gave the state of birth. I suspect she was born in Howard County, IN as that's where her father was in the 1850 census, and he then moved to Coles Co., IL.
She died after Feb 1940. In the 1880 Montague County, TX census, she was living with her sister (Elizabeth Daniel) and brother-in-law (John Thomas Beem).
She was apparently living in Tulsa, Tulsa County, OK in Feb. 1940. Martin P. SHOCKEY Jr. and Harriet DANIELS had the following children:
4 i. Decatur SHOCKEY was born in Jun 1882 in MO.
5 ii. Guy SHOCKEY was born in Aug 1889 in KS.
6 iii. Raymond SHOCKEY was born in Sep 1890 in MO.
7 iv. Mamie SHOCKEY was born in Feb 1893 in KS.
8 v. Mabel P. SHOCKEY was born in May 1899 in KS.
