Blackley Shoemake was the son of Blackley and Ruth Shoemake; he was b: 1770-1775, probably in Craven Co, later Chester Co., SC. He is probably the male under 16 years listed with Blackley in the 1790 census for Cheraws District, later Chesterfield Co. SC. He apparently went to TN with his father about 1795. In 1808 Blackley II is named in a survey in Anderson Co. TN; by 1812 Blackley and his father with their families had moved on to Hamilton Co. OH where he first appears in the land records. Blackley II married first to Nancy (unknown) and second to Mercy Dunn Prest.
