Back in the 1980's a man from Texas called me and said he had William Shumake's bible. He said I could see it but he was moving and would get back to me. I never heard from him again.
William Shumake (Shoemake) was murdered by Confederate soldiers in July 1863, near Bandera, Tx. (e-mail me if you want a copy of the article I wrote).

Anyone that knows where this bible is, if I could see it or have the personal info it contains, please contact me.
