I found a Shoffner family book in the Coffee County Public Library, in Manchester, TN. I don't know how to share this with you from this forum, but if you will give me your email address, I'll forward it. I can't put my finger on my picture of the tombstone right now, but I did not remember that it was inscribed in German. I have been rambling around among several lines, and I've been told that's the WORST approach to research. My ancestor was Peter, son of Michael, brother of Martin. We visited the grave of Martin at the Shoffner Lutheran Church Cemetery last summer. Martin was a Revolutionary War soldier, but do you have any information indicating his father Michael participated in the Revolutionary War in any capacity as well? Keep in touch.
