Dear Pam,
I too am a novice at this family history stuff, but had to notice the Edna Shorten in your note. My Grandmother was named Edna Clare or Clare Edna Shorten. Her maiden name was Jackson. My grandfather's name was Roy A. Shorten. He always lived in the Fort Scott and Nevada, MO areas. We have very little information about his family. I'm sure this somehow has to have a connection.
