Hi Terri, Saw your message and thought I would drop you a note. My Shorten family comes from Bandan, Ireland but I noticed on the obit of William Shorten and his wife Anne Payne Shorten that they were teachers in Ireland and England. So far we have been stuck at a dead end to the elders of William and his family. We know they came over to USA via??ship that took seven weeks and landed in New Orleans. We also know they traveled up the Mississippi River to Albia, Iowa, then to Fort Scott, Kansas. William homesteaded in Marmeton, Bourbon County,Kansas. William and some of his children are buried in Devon, Kansas. The descend. of his family traveled down to Oklahoma , where we are and some went up to Kansas City, Kansas...and others all over the place...Would love to hear from you and your Shorten family. Donna and Richard Shorten
