My Shorten ancestors came from the Bandon, Cork area. My great grandfather, James Shorten and his brother John came to the U.S. in approx. 1850 and their brother Jonathon went to Australia about the same time and was not heard from since. This family lived on the Townland of Shanaclogh near Bandon, Enniskeane and Castletown. I visited the area a couple years ago and spoke to several Shortens, one of which was the widow of William Shorten, my second cousin, once removed. She lives in Balineen. I have a lot of information about the descendants of both James and John and am willing to share if you feel we might be related.
