Hi to all the Shorten researchers. we are all I am sure eventually linked, as my understanding is that 3 Shorten families went out to Bandon and probaly the surrounding area under the plantations approx 1620. 2 families remained and 1 went onto the US. The families were obviously very close as the name patterns are almost identical, but that is the problem trying to work out who is who from which family. I am desperately trying to get backwards from 1842 my grt grt grandfather William Shorten married Bridget Gould 1842 and they have run the pub in Ballingeary ever since until just recently I know that there are a number of you out there who we have shared our info but has anyone gone back pre 1800 or even if any records exist pre 1700, please please help me break through this brick wall. I believe that my William converted to Catholosim pre marriage so does any one know if convert records exsist ? any info gratefully appreciated, and if I can help anyone with mine you are welcome, many thanks Margaret
