Robert, I am a descendant of a Hessian soldier, Arnold Haupt.

Recently a Shotzenberger family member contacted the mailing board regarding a possible Hessian soldier.

I know you will appreciate the following.

Warm regards,

Jane Curci

There is a family member whose name was Christopher Shotzberger. There was also a Zachariah, a brother. I am not convinced as to which was my direct ancestor & which was the Hessian.

According to family lore, the Hessian was captured and indentured on a PA farm. After the war he accepted Washington's offer of a pardon and indentured himself to the same farmer and made enough money to bring over all of his brothers.

I also know that Christopher married and was buried in Snyder, PA. I don't think Snyder gives much of a hint as to where he was captured.

Gerald Reigle
ID: I03370
Name: Christopher SHOTZBERGER
Sex: M
Death: 1813
Note: He was a Hessian soldier.

Marriage 1 Catherine ARBOGAST
