Please note new e-mail address.

I have been working on this particular line off and on for ten years now and have repeatedly run up against this brick wall. I keep hitting all around these Shows families but can't find the link to connect them to me.

My Dad (Lester C.) does know that he himself was born in Hattiesburg but does not know that he was raised or ever lived there. He was a sickly child and doesn't remember much of his childhood, except that "Grandpa" Cornelius was an old, old man when he (my Dad) was little.

Info from my handwritten scribbles and notes:
Grandfather Cornelius(or possibly great-uncle to my father and just called "Grandpa") said the parents of Lester D. went to visit or take care of relatives in Louisiana and left the "baby" (Lester D.) with the Nelsons. They were killed (or died together)while there.

{the D. may not be Dearmon, but possibly Daniel or David - Dearmon might be the nickname)

The Nelsons raised the baby, as Cornelius was not in a position to take care of him at the time but he did keep tabs on him for a while.

Info from my Grandmother (who is now deceased):
Lester D. enlisted with army and was "told" (I neglected to write down who he was told by) that he was a Shows and not a Nelson, and that caused him "great mental stress as he was not a very self confident man". He left her with four children.

He may have married her {Willia (called Mae) Augusta Jarrell} under the Nelson name - I didn't think to ask at the time. I've asked my Aunt but she doesn't remember anyone ever saying where they were married and has not yet been able to find a marriage certificate. My Uncle Lem (the oldest child of the four) went by the last name of Nelson while the rest of the children went by Shows.

I'm still pretty new to this and don't have a lot of time to spend on it traveling to Mississippi to look up records. It is also apparent that other things may have gone on in this family that they still don't want to talk about, so any help scaling this brick wall would be greatly appreciated.
