Bettye, Thanks for the tip. I've tried going through the microfilmed copies of the Times Picayune looking for myself and haven't been able to find anything yet. I don't have a true name to go by or exactly what year it happened, just approximately between 1911 -1915. I am working off what my father remembers from when he was very young and he is not real sure anymore. He does remember it was a big problem/hassel to change the name back to Shows from Nelson. I did discover that when my dad played ball in school, the name was spelled four different ways in the newspapers - Shause, Shouse, Showes and Shows.

I think I've found my Grandfather's ssn on the SSDeath Index and have sent off for the information this week. Hopefully, when it comes back, it will have his Shows father's name on it and not the adoptive Nelson father's name. I should then be able to decipher which Shows "Cluster" I belong to.
