John Shows circa 1895 (TX,AZ,NM)

I am looking for my great-grandfather. His name, as it shows on my grandmother's birth cert, is John Shows. He lived for a time in TX, probably Potter County, near Amarillo. That is where my grandmother was born in 1927. Her sister was born in Potter County (same father) a couple of years earlier. He married Katie Marie Bolin Barton probably around 1923-1925. She lived in Potter County prior to that.

Some bio info gleaned from my grandmother and her sister:
He supposedly worked building roads and highways in NM after 1927. Unsure of when, but he spent some time working as a cowboy for the largest ranch in NM (largest at that time). It is said that he homesteaded in southwest NM very near the AZ state line, and perhaps even into AZ. He visited my grandmother and her sister during the early 1930's when they lived on the Indian reservation in Mescalero, NM.

If anyone has any information on him at all, please reply and let me know.
Thank you!
