I think you will find that SHUE is an English form of the German surname SCHUH or SCHU which means "shoe." For those of use with ancestors named Shue, we find many variations in spelling of the name. A few include:

Schuh
Schu
Schue
Schug
Schuch
Shue
Shew
Shoe
Schoe

I have found these variations in researching my branch, the Zachariah Shue family of York County, Pennsylvania. The name Schuh is found throughout Germany. It is doubtful that there is any common ancestor for all Shue families in America.
