What a puzzle! I would suspect the census worker of making a mistake in Cora Small's age, if not for the fact she is listed as domestic servant and I really don't think a 4-5 year old would be listed that way. If I knew the name of John C.'s first wife I could check the families with that last name in MI in 1870 to see if little Cora Sias was living with maternal grandparents at that time. I don't see her with any of the Sias family 1870 census info I have printed out. I also chanced across a Badgrow family living near some Sias families in Jasper Township, Midland in the 1870 census.
