Feeling smug and self-satisfied after finding the family connections of all Sias surname families in the 1870 Fed census for Michigan, I decided to find all the Siases in the 1880 Fed census for Midland, Midland Co. Michigan. There are two new Sias families. Both from Maine so I'm pretty sure they are related. My usual online sources don't show them.
Numbers and handwriting of this enumerator are hard to read so these may not be exact:
Jefferson Sias, born abt 1826 in Maine, father and mother born in N. H.; Abba, 47, wife, b. Maine, f b. maine, m b. N H; all children in the family born in Maine, George,21,(consumption);Orlando,17, son; Andy, 13, son; Fannie,9, daughter.
2 families down:
Weston(?) S. Sias, 31, b.Maine, f. b. Maine, m b. Mass; Priscilla, 34, b. Maine, p b. Maine; Children born in Michigan, Lillie May, 9; Willie F,7.
Weston possibly Jefferson's son by first wife from Mass.?
Anybody know how they connect?
