Hi Randy,Good to talk to you today. The Daniel Sicard whose will I am searching for was born 1712, and was the son of Ambrose Sicard Jr. and Jeanne Perron. His first spouse was Mary Archer, dau of John Archer and Elizabeth Valyntin. This John Archer was the grandson of the Archer who founded Fordham Manor. He only inherited his house and the 40 acres it sat on as his stepmother gave the estate to her new husband's church. The John Archer II who was his father had gotten greatly into debt.Daniel Sicard and Mary Archer had sons Jonathan and Jeremiah. Some people on World Connect also list a dau, Marie, and a fourth child (possibly a Daniel).I'd like to get better info on this couple, but don't know where to look at this point.Other possible wives for Daniel b. 1712 are listed as Abigail Fowler, Nancy Le Conte, and a "Mrs. Sicard".According to the Alfred Vail Index Research, Daniel b. 1756, and listed as a son of Nehemiah Vail(?) and Mary, had a son George.George reportedly wouldn't let the rest of the Vail family see the family papers which the person reporting called "the ancient writings".I think these writings revealed that Daniel b. 1756 wasn't Nehemiah's son.Nehemiah Jr. reportedly quarreled with Daniel over some land and ended up going to Canada.Nehemiah Vail Sr. refused to sign the Association papers in 1775, but I don't know if it was because he was a Quaker or a Loyalist. The fact that Nehemiah Jr. was able to get a land grant in Canada leads me to believe Nehemiah was a Loyalist.I've found descendents of Nehemiah Jr. living in California, but haven't gotten much info from them. Definitive data from the 1700's is difficult to find.I've been able to place Joseph Vail, suspected brother of Nehemiah, on Courtlandt Manor, but haven't been able to prove Nehemiah was there also. Keep in touch.
