Can you tell me anything about the descendants of Christopher Sigman's son David (m. Barbara Whitener)? I'm especially interested in the son we thought was named "David Alexander Sigman" (m. Mary Slocum?). I saw his name on a rootsweb tree as "Marquis D. L. Sigman" b. 06 Mar 1792 in Catawba Co NC and died in Newton Co GA.

Are Marquis and David the same person? Is Marquis a title - or where did it come from? This is brand new information to us and has us very curious. So far, I haven't located this person anywhere in the 1850 census, so any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.
