Melisa,
I saw something recently indicating an Alonza Sigman in Texas--think it was Hopkins County TX records I've been searching through. An 1856 court document that I'm missing the first half of is an estate settlement. Here is what I have reads: "was ordered by the Court that Lowden Sigman be allowed 1/3 of 100 acres of land situated in Hopkins County which was held by preemption for his servies in serving said land and the remaining portion with 432 acres of land situated in Lamar County to be divided equally among the heirs, there being 7 in number viz: Clarissa ? Sigman (Clarissa Williams married Jordan Sigman), Reuben Williams, Ralph Williams, Mrs. Abney, John Byrn, Mrs. Williams & daughter. Ordered by the court that G.H. Crowder, W.M. Ewing and L.G. Harman be and they are hereby appointed to divide said estate." I want to know if this Mrs. Abney is Keziah Abney, wife of Nathaniel Asa Abney. This would make Clarissa Sigman her sister and might help explain why Clarissa and Jordan R. Sigman are living in the household of Joseph Duncan Abney and son Nathaniel (with wife Keziah and kids) in 1860 Hopkins Co, TX????
Thx!
Lisa
