I am always glad to receive new data on the Siler family. Please send me anything you are willing to share. I have all the main books on the Siler family and have updated it by gleaning info from the internet, actively searching the membership section of Ancestry.com and searching all available census records.
I will clarify that when I say "I am always glad to receive new data on the Siler family" I am talking about Plikard Siler and his descendents. I am grateful that others are following other Siler branches but I just do not have the time to devote to them all. There are some postings on this forum about Siler's or names similar to Siler that are either not related at all to Plikard or others that may be related but the relationship is not convincingly documented.
The thread to which you responded and which is seen below is a good example. It is speculated that Plikard had 2 or 3 brothers, that their father was Andreas Siler and grandfather Benedict. One can make a reasonably good case that Plikard had 2 brothers. I have not seen good evidence on the rest. If someone replies that it has been proved, please include the documentation with your reply.
These 3 brothers, if they are indeed brothers, loved the names Phillip, Jacob and John. The problem is that many put their Phillip, Jacob or John on the wrong branch. That is what my part of the following thread was about.
Still looking for information on who John Siler's father was. John and his wife Sarah Thompson lived in Franklin Co. Tenn. John died in 1850 in Franklin Co., Tenn.
This part of the Siler family is not my specialty but this is what I have.
Three brothers, sons of Andreas Siler, emigrated from Germany. They were Plikard, Philip and Jacob. The vast majority of the Siler's in this forum are from the Plikard line. Your John is from the Philip line. This Philip married Christian? I have two of their children as Philip and John. This is your John. He married Sarah Thompson. They had four children; Jacob, Isaac, Elizabeth and Polly.
Charles Iím from Jacob Siler Sr & Jr. How much interest do you have for this side of the Siler's.
The info I have seen on this part of the family seems confused and contradictory. The several Jacobs and Phillips especially get mixed up. If you can help me make sense of this part of the Siler family, I would be grateful.
I have DAR genealogy records if you're interested.
Polly Tallmadge (yes I am another Polly in the line.)
