Who knows how it was pronounced. I have been told, by a German, it is not a German name. It sounds French which may fit into the theory that Plikardís father emigrated from Switzerland to Germany.

Do you know the TV show Star Trek: The Next Generation? The captain of the Enterprise was John Luke Picard. I pronounce it like Picard except with and L, the accent on the last syllable.
