Need help determing who his parents are? Most likely from Macon County, NC. This an entry from NC STATE Troops: A Roster

John W. SILER, Co. E, 63rd Regiment NC Troops [5th Regiment NC Cavalry] Pvt
Enlisted in Martin County December 2, 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for through August 1864 when he was reported with the remark "Wounded -supposedly mortally - in action near Kennen's Landing, May 24, 1864 and captured" No Federal Provost Marshal records were found relative to his capture or imprisonment. Claim for balance of pay due was filed by his father on October 24, 1864.
NCST: A Roster Vol. II p. 411

Help much appreciated, Wayne Phillips
