It is doubtful that Mary’s parents ever set foot in either NY or IN. Her parents were born in NC as were William Pickard and his wife Mary Siler.

The following is extracted from the “Siler Book”. Although not complete or entirely accurate it is helpful and complements the census.

c Adam Siler, son of Philip and Mary Crabtree Siler, was born in Chatham Co., NC, about 1771. In about 1795, he married Sarah Hadley, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Dickey Hadley of Orange Co., NC. They were Quakers, and members of the Orange Co. (later Alamance) Monthly Meeting. They left Orange Co. about 1817 and finally settled in Parke Co., IN, near Bloomingdale, or what was then Bloomfield Monthly Meeting. (See Hinshaw: Cyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol. 1, pg. 418) Adam's will is recorded in Parke Co. Will Book No. 1.

cc Mary Siler, daughter of Adam and Sarah was born October 17, 1801. She married Wm. Pickard.
