Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Siler Book

The A. O. Siler book, 1922, was the basis for the T. E. Siler book, 1982. The latter is more complete but the earlier book is on the web at the following site.

http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&id=RCNWAAAAMAAJ&dq=siler+family&printsec=frontcover&source=web&ots=zlEr6zV8pX&sig=fIQRCGBbJ_c-v1ICOBJ- UQC1fKo&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=6&ct=result#v=onepage&q=&f=false

There are several postings on this forum expressing a desire to have a copy of the T E Siler book "The Siler Family". Some are trying to find a copy while others want it republished. For those that do not have a copy, try following the postings of John M. Siler on RootsWeb.com, database number 1098035. Start at

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1098035&id=I5

This is the page for Plikard. I have not looked at every page but John's database appears so complete and follows the Siler Book so closely that it looks like he just copied the book to this database.

Keep in mind that both books have errors and omissions. There are several of us working on a more correct, up to date version of all or part of “The Siler Book”. If you can contribute something that is not in the John M. Siler string, let me know.
